What is better than attending a fundraiser for Kansas Humane Society?
Attending one that involves a whiskey tasting and Station 8 BBQ at a cool venue called Shift Auto Society located on the southeast corner of S. Market St. and E. Waterman St.
I attended Wichita By E.B.’s Whiskey Tasting event yesterday and it was an incredible time. We had a “whiskey expert” there with his own private collection introducing whiskey after whiskey after whiskey after whiskey after whiskey. I think. Don’t recall.
Kidding. But the point of the exercise was to learn about the art of whiskey. To guess (we were given a “blind pour”) the distillery the whiskey came from, whether it is a bourbon, rye or whiskey, the age, the proof, the mash bill (I don’t even know what that means…), etc. And then the whiskey would be unveiled. It was quite interesting.
And as always, Station 8 delivered. I didn’t get the best photos — blame it on what you want — but we had burnt ends, pulled pork, potato salad, pasta salad, mac n’ cheese, corn bread, mashed potatoes and a charcuterie board. The folks I sat with were RAVING about the Mac. The noodles in the Mac at Station 8 are made by FioRito Ristorante.
It was an excellent time and the best part is that it was not just about fun…but about a good cause. I hold a special place in my heart for the Kansas Humane Society. And so does Ms. Hope.
Eddy…do this again.
