Darla took another bite of her Turkey, Mozzarella & Fig sandwich from Social Tap in Wichita, Kansas and tossed a perfectly crisp fry into her mouth. After several chews she took a sip of her agua (Spanish for water) and blurted out what was on her mind.
“Doug, we need to talk.” she began.
Doug looked perplexed. He had just been mouth-deep in his Chicken Avocado Sando. “Wait what. You’re breaking up with me?!?” Doug still had bits of avocado ranch, pico, shaved lettuce and Dukes mayo all over his face. But that couldn’t hide the jubilation in his voice.
“Wait what? No. I wanted to find out if you were going to call off the retribution tour against The Kansas Gastronomist. Why would you think I’m breaking up with you? Is that something that you’ve been thinking about for a while?!”
“No. No, no, no, no, no. It’s just that when women typically break up with me, they always introduce the conversation with ‘Doug, we need to talk,’ but yeah, no. I’m not giving up my retribution tour against TKG!”
“Whatever.” Darla said to herself as she stole a tot from Doug. “Maybe TKG was right – Doug really is a jerk.”
RESTAURANT NOTES: I don’t believe I’ve ever ordered a dish from Social Tap that was subpar. And both of these sandwiches were above par. It’s always a good spot for me to grab a quick bite to eat. Social Tap has two locations. One at Greenwich & 21st in Wichita and one at the WSU campus.
