“You’re not supposed to get _________ (fill in the blank) there The Kansas Gastronomist. You’re supposed to get _________ (fill in the blank). That’s what they are known for.”
I read comments like that all the time. So I’m curious your thoughts. Let’s discuss by using a hypothetical.
Let’s say there is a restaurant called TKG’s Fish Shop. Everybody loves TKG’s famous fried fish filet. Throngs of patrons line up for it. But TKG’s also has a fried chicken sandwich amongst the other seafood options.
One day a patron goes into TKG’s and is just not feeling fish. The patron decides to order the fried chicken sandwich. The sandwich goes out to the patron and it is not a sight to behold. It’s sad looking and has zero flavor — no love at all. The patron thinks it sucks. The patron tells everybody “Don’t go to TKG’s. I hated it when I went!”
So, here is the question. Should TKG’s even offer the chicken sandwich? Should the menu be consolidated to just the items TKG’s Fish Shop is known and loved for?
