Another vendor I checked out when I attended a pop-up at Central Standard Brewing in Wichita, Kansas recently was Polka Pierogi. It’s a pop-up that sells pierogi.
Now for some of you Gastrofans that don’t know what pierogi is (I have known this since I was 1-month old), they are “filled dumplings, made by wrapping unleavened dough around a filling, and occasionally flavored with a savory or sweet garnish, finally cooked in boiling water. That is according to Wikipedia where I get all of my news.
When I went they had the Sauerkraut & Kietbasa Pierogi and the Jalepeno Loaded Potato. I got both. And actually I have to give credit to Wichita By E.B. He was there for awhile with me (or was I with him?) and he shared some of his and then I got my own. For those of you who don’t know, Wichita By E.B. has a small blog.
Anyway, my thoughts are thus. Da**. That stuff was good. I definitely preferred and LOVED the Saurkraut Pierogi. So much flavor. Jeez. I could eat that pierogi every day. The Jalapeño Loaded Potato was good, but it’s like the “stand-in” (like in a movie) to the Sauerkraut & Kietbasa.
Check out their Facebook or Instagram page if you want to know where they will be next. It’s not my job.
