I swung by Le Monde Cafe & Deli at 602 N. West St. in Wichita, Kansas to pick up a Gyro along with their soup of the day (Lentil Soup).
I thought the Gyro was good, but wasn’t anything that blew me away. It was decent — but just not anything special.
Which brings me to my next point. I’ve said it before. But how do you say Gyro?
I’m not gonna lie — the places I have been that are not in the United States — pronounce it “Yee-row” or “Euro” in short. But it seems like everywhere I go in Wichita, people say “Ji-row.” Pronouncing the “G.”
Considering all the places in Wichita you can get a Gyro, it seems like there should be some consistency. And maybe the consistency is simply what I think is incorrect.
Commence blasting me for being wrong or elitist.
