I unrolled and read the cute little piece of paper attached to the leg of the cute little pigeon that had just arrived at Doug’s Basement (my place) from The Envision Bistro at NICHE in Wichita,Kansas.
“SOS. Live Local is here. Causing a scene per the usual.
Please use your karate abilities. We’re depending on you The Kansas Gastronomist.”
I’m not law enforcement. But I also don’t mind karate chopping people for a good cause. Especially this good cause. So I went and handled it.
Clean up, Aisle 9.
While I was there I went ahead and ordered The Hedge Hog. It was a Spicy Italian Sausage Patty with cheeses, Mozzarella Sticks and marinara. It was a special. As a side I ordered the Stir Fried Veggies (on the menu).
As far as the sandwich, I thought it had really good flavor, but did think it was a bit messy. It wasn’t because of the sauces (perfect amount) but because the bun soaked up so much of the sauce. Which made the entirety of the sandwich tasty since the bun soaked up the flavor. As far as the stir fried veggies — I was really impressed.
If you haven’t made it to The Envision Bistro and you consider yourself a foodie, I really think you owe it to yourself to go. First, because you will enjoy it — always something new and cool. Second, because this HAS to be something that a foodie supports — A CULINARY SCHOOL IN DOWNTOWN WICHITA.
