I was invited to Sam’s Southern Eatery Wichita to try some food. This means that I did not pay for my meal. It also means that I tipped based on what my meal would have been, and then some.
What’s the sound of a baby whining? That’s the sound I hear when I go to a restaurant and order something that someone thinks is not “the thing,” despite the fact that it’s on the menu. “TKG you are supposed to get ‘x’!!”
Sometimes it works out. Sometimes it doesn’t.
I ordered “the thing” that Sam’s is not probably known for. The pasta. Specifically, the Shrimp & Chicken Alfredo Pasta.
I thought it was excellent. Even the loser I was with thought it was very good (not Doug…but tantamount). I really don’t know what I would change about it. The sauce was flavorful, the pasta cooked right (not under or overcooked), and there was plenty of chicken and shrimp. And the serving was very generous. I would order it again. I even took some leftovers home and Doug’s wife (my sister) thought that it tasted great reheated.
Sam’s Southern Eatery is located at 2706 N. Amidon Ave. on the west side of Wichita, Kansas.
