I had been wanting to get to Winfield, Kansas to check out LADYBIRD BREWING for probably close to two years.
I’ve actually known Laura and Kaydee, the owners, for many years (in a past life) and they are awesome ladies. Of course, they have sworn to keep my identity secret.
But seriously, how many breweries in Kansas are owned by two female brewers? If this were Jeopardy, I’d cue that little jingle and you’d run out of time. Answer — none.
Well, I finally made it and was super impressed. This brewery is on the Main Street as you enter Winfield in an old filling station. Check out the photos — it’s decorated amazingly and even has a backyard area to play games. And the staff — Tyler and Jillian — were so friendly and helpful. Dare I say “bad a**?” Of course that’s not surprising. Good, smart, kind people attract good, smart, kind people.
During my visit I ordered the “Stranded in Space Hazy IPA” and really enjoyed it. And they carry cider from White Crow Cider Company out of Wichita, Kansas.
I just LOVE it when there are cool things in cool smaller communities. Congrats Laura and Kaydee. Keep on bein’ real.
