Asia has 4.7 billion of the world’s 8 billion peeps and stretches 17 million miles. By comparison, Africa, the second largest continent has 1.5 billion people and is 11 million square miles.

That’s a lot of culture. And just another reason to follow Wichita Asian Association so that next year you don’t miss the Wichita Asian Festival that took place yesterday at Century II Performing Arts & Convention Center in Wichita, Kansas.

Boasting food from Korea, Philippines, Cambodia, Samoa, Vietnam, Japan, India, China and Loas — this is the spot to be. And there’s a bunch of other stuff beyond food. Dragon and Lion dances, Taekwondo demonstrations and a pageant.

I stopped and got some Butter Chicken and Vada Pav from a home-based booth run by Amruta Gite (for some Indian food) and by the Immanuel Vietnamese Baptist Church booth for some Gyoza (for my Vietnamese fix).

Always such a good time. If you live in or near Wichita, take advantage of these cool opportunities.

Someone once wrote “The world is flat.” There’s some truth in that. All I had to do was go to Century II to get to Asia.
