I might have a food blog, but often times I have a people blog. Because often, the people behind the food are just as important to me as the food.
Enter CJ’s Last Stop Cafe in Wichita, Kansas.
Tiffany just recently opened it. What does the “C” and “J” mean? Well, the “C” stands for Chris, her son. In June of 2023 when Chris was 18-years old, he stopped at the QuikTrip at MacArthur & Meridian to get a soda. Unfortunately, some humans suck and think it’s cool to take guns to the gas station and that causes other humans to get hurt. Chris was caught up in crossfire and paralyzed from the chest down. Fast forward to today and Chris will occasionally help Tiffany out at the cafe when he is able. Because Tiffany opened the restaurant to “build up something so that if anything happens to her, her kids will be able to take care of themselves.”
Let me tell you — this is a restaurant you should definitely check out when you are willing to make the time. Tiffany was so positive and upbeat and wanting to make sure that Fert The Foodie and I were having a good experience (no, we didn’t say who we were). It’s good ol’ home cooked food. Really is. You can tell it’s made to order. In the words of Tiffany “everything but the fries are homemade.”
I ordered a cup of homemade chili, which was excellent. I also wanted to order the Chicken Noodle, but it had already sold out. Then when Fert arrived (the dude is always late, I’m telling you) we ordered the Breakfast Platter, which came with eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits and gravy, and pancakes. We also ordered the bacon cheeseburger and a couple of breakfast tacos. All of it was good food and my favorite was definitely the breakfast tacos. But I wouldn’t hesitate to order any of the food. Tiffany even offered to make me an omelette, which wasn’t even on the menu.
Go and give CJ’s Last Stop Cafe some love. It’s located in southwest Wichita near the intersection of Southeast Blvd. and E. Harry St. at 1548 S. Ida St.
