TKG stepped out of his Town & Country Station Wagon and took a large drag off his menthol.
“Hey good lookin’. Whatcha got cookin’?” A lady passing by catcalled out to TKG. TKG just ignored it. Sometimes he didn’t understand why people said certain things. He wasn’t cooking anything. Also, he couldn’t figure out why his friends called his station wagon the “Shaggin’ Wagon.”
“What brings you to Chuck’s Bar in Salina, Kansas at 600 N. Santa Fe Avenue?” the lady bartender asked as TKG bellied up to the bar.
What brought him there was that he needed to get away from Doug.
“Well, see. I have this brother-in-law I hate. His name is Doug.” TKG responded. The bartender’s eyes grew wide. “Oh my jeez!” the lady bartender squeeled. “You’re The Kansas Gastronomist! We LOVE you!”
Just another day in the life of a gastronomist.
RESTAURANT NOTES: I ordered the Breakfast Burrito and the Breakfast Sandwich. I enjoyed both. The sandwich was pretty basic, so I preferred the burrito. I liked that the burrito was grilled and also thought the homemade salsa was quite tasty. It had a lot of onion in it and thought it was a positive thing.
