I saw that Sally Sue’s NY Deli was going to be at Barks & Brews ICT in Wichita, Kansas and decided to make my way over there.
I was disappointed to see very few people there. Granted, the weather was crap and maybe I was there too early (probably 6pm). And it was a Monday. So, maybe an anomaly. Sure hope so. Because this is such a cool spot.
Unfortunately my doggos are reactive and so I do not take them out into situations where they are unable to succeed. But it was cool being around some awesome doggos.
And the food? Well, this is my first “real” review of Sally Sue’s. I had tried them when I judged at Peach Fest at Blood Orchards (but that’s a special created item) and checked it out at Orie’s Garlic Fest (again, a special item). But this was my first time to go and just try it.
My buddy and I split a chili with cornbread, a French dip with au jus and bowl of French onion soup. My buddy gulped down the chili. It was unique in that the chili you see is OVER the cornbread. I enjoyed the chili. But for me, the French onion soup was the best. It was one of the better French onion soups I’ve had in some time. So much flavor. And the French dip? The au jus made it. It was very good.
As far as Barks & Brews, they have a full bar and I got that glass of Chardonnay during their happy hour. Unfortunately, I had to leave before they started trivia, but 316 Trivia & Entertainment slings that entertainment on Mondays.
I really hope you put on your list to swing by this place, with or without your doggos.
