I’m not sure what to say to a guy that has an amazing restaurant (Albero Bistro) in Wichita, Kansas that is opening up another spot called Levantine Kitchen over on Central & Hillside.
Do I say “I love that you named the restaurant after ‘the Levant,’ which is traditionally Assyrian, Cyprus (Cypriot), Israeli, Jordanian, Lebanese, Ottoman, Palestinian and/or Syrian cuisine.”?
Do I say “I love the concept of the fast/casual model where everything is made fresh to-order and gets to you in a few minutes. Bowls – Wraps – Salads.”?
Do I say “I really enjoyed the soft opening I checked out today and am confident that Monday when you fully open, you’ll have the crowds that are warranted.”?
I guess I’ll just say this. Hassan. Keep being a bad ass. And next week — the people will come. Or should.

NOTES: I attended a “friends and family” event at Levantine Kitchen. Was I invited because I’m a blogger? Nope. Maybe you think so. It’s because I have been friends with Hassan for almost ten years. Love this guy. And I’ve always disclosed it. Thr restaurant opens on Monday. You should consider giving it a try.
I ordered the Half Shawarma Rice and Half Humus Shawarma Bowl. Also, I tried the Shawarma Chicken (the wrap) and fries. I’m sorry that my photo of the menu sucks — you can see the bowls and wraps, but not the salad options. There are a bunch of them including a fattoush salad.
I DID NOT pay for my food, but as always I tipped what my meal would have been.
