In Garden City, Kansas there’s a meatpacking plant and grocery store called Ehresman Packing. It’s a place that I only heard of in the last year or so and managed to swing by recently. I picked up some beef summer sausage, ground beef, wieners and some salsa (they carry some of that delicious salsa that El Zarape of Garden City makes).
This place has been around for a long time. I couldn’t find much information online. But I did find a news article from 2001 and found out enough to know that this place has been in business since at least 1964, which is when a dude named V.C. Carter moved to Garden City to run the store. And it appears to me that it has been in the Plankenhorn family since 1992. Regardless the place has been around for more than 60 years. I took a photo of this door and the lady working the register told me that it was the original door — I think it went to their meatpacking section.
Love finding these random spots around Kansas.
