FULL DISCLOSURE: Food and arcade games were fully comped.
Around nine years ago Derek Sorrells and Michael Jensen saw a void in Wichita. They wanted a place where kids, parents and adults could go, pay one flat price and play as many of the games as they wanted. None of that stupid “pay per game” crap that costs families an arm and a leg. And so, Derek, whom owned fifty-two classic arcade games and Michael, whom owned around thirty, started The Arcade in Downtown Wichita.
In addition to all of the classic arcade games that are included in the flat price ($12 for adults, $10 for kids 10 and under), there are a ton of pinball machines and ski-ball that you can play with tokens.
And while you are there, you can also get a drink from the full bar or grab some grub for you and your friends like Jackstacks.Eats, Annette Lawless and I did the other day. We were there to try out some items that were already on the menu and some new items that they just added. We tried out the Pepperoni Pizza, Beef Pizza, Thin Crust Pepperoni Pizza (or Tavern Style), Fried Pickles, Jalapeño Poppers, Mozzarella Sticks, Wings with multiple sauces, Fries and Onion Rings. Granted they knew the food was being prepared for two influencers and an old bald man (me), but still I thought the food was pretty good. If I took my family there (I would not because I don’t like my family) I would order the thin crust pepperoni pizza, the jalapeño poppers, the wings (they were surprisingly meaty and I enjoyed all the sauces) and the fries. But again, I enjoyed all the food.
Make sure and support The Arcade. It’s a cheap way to have family fun and this is the only family spot like it in the state’s largest city.
NOTE: The Arcade has some weekly specials to be aware of. On Tuesday it’s 1/2 price entry. On Wednesday it is 1/2 price on most food and drink. And on Fridays it is pay for 1-adult and get 1-kid entry free. Located at 906 E. Third St. N.
