GASTRO-AWESOME FIND

One of the things I ABSOLUTELY love is finding spots that are just awesome that I would not have gone to, but for a Gastrofan putting it onto my radar.

For this Sunday’s edition, let me introduce you to the “Family Food Store” in Sawyer, Kansas — a town with a population of 91 and located 11 miles southeast of Pratt, Kansas.

This spot gets the Gastro-Guarantee. I absolutely loved the bierock and the cheeseburger soup. Both were incredible. That bierock was simply the best bierock that I have ever had. Period. That dough tasted like heaven. Seriously. The spices on it. And you can see it was FILLED. I get so dang tired of bierocks that are only bread with a little filling.

Everything here is homemade and you can do take-and-bake/grab and go or eat in the dinning area.

I was super impressed with this place. I had it on my list and didn’t make it a priority, but I wish I would have because it was great.

By the way, the owner started this spot 12-years ago to spend more time with his family, after having working in the CPA world. His son, which was the “oldest, young man” I’ve ever met (meaning wise beyond his years) was also working the shop.

Definitely put this spot on your list.
