In Wisconsin most people partake in “Fish Fry Friday.” You people talking fish for Lent lately? Give me a break. I’m talking fish every single Friday. Always. Your whole life. That’s how they do.
I believe that there’s nowhere in Wichita, Kansas that’s as close to that style as Blalock’s seafood restaurant located at 803 N. West St. Period.
For those not in the know and those in the know — this restaurant was started by the son of the owners of Wichita Fish Company, which was in business in Wichita for 30+ years until last year.
When I went I ordered the Grilled Mahi Mahi. I know, I know. I didn’t get fried fish. But the style of the Mahi is the style you’d get up in the Lake Michigan area. I also got the fries, coleslaw and hushpuppies.
If you haven’t been to Blalock’s, here is my encouragement. Do it.
