Bobos Drive In in Topeka, Kansas was founded in 1948 when Harry Truman was President and has been in business for 75-years. And since 1953 — 71-years ago — the menu has not changed.
It was started by a guy named Bob Bobo and according to my research, the same utensils are used to grill the burgers that Bob Bobo used.
I finally was able to make it to Bobos recently and ordered up a Burger and a Coney Dog. The Coney was basic, but kind of what you’d expect and what I prefer because nowadays I feel like sometimes people just try to do too much (whether we talking burger or dogs). The burger is flattened and charred and tasty.
This place is know for their onion rings, which are made from scratch. And please know that while I didn’t get them, I regret it, but sometimes I do things like not ordering what I’m supposed to order just to get a rise out of you.
By the way, Bobos was on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives. Definitely a spot to put on your list!
