During the height of COVID, when you couldn’t dine-in, I went to The Kitchen in Wichita, Kansas so many times. It was before I had a blog. And I was really worried whether they’d make it through. I’m talking 2020. Would get food “to-go” because that was the option.
It’s kind of funny. I’ve gone to The Kitchen for years and never met Chef NGR who owns the place, until recently.
Anyway, I recently had several MAJOR losers come into town from out-of-state to visit me and decided to take them to The Kitchen. They’d heard me talk about it. They were both impressed. We got the Disco Fries. I know it’s been done, but dang it’s good. Every bite gone. One of the losers got the Cajun Pasta. He loved it. And me? I got the Spicy Yum Yum. I let both of them try it and they really liked it — a lot. And it’s on the lighter side, which is cool. Being the foremost Gastronomist, I have to watch my girlish figure.
I’m glad The Kitchen survived. It’s located at Historic Union Station in Old Town Wichita, but you probably have seen that they are opening up a second location in the next few weeks just north of 37th & Oliver in NE Wichita.
Stay Gastro. Stay Stupid.
