I want you to do yourself a favor and go out of your way to try this food truck. Crested Crane Cafe is owned by Mary Rager who was born and raised in Uganda. As a young teenager in Uganda she cooked for her family, church and the less fortunate in her community.

She eventually moved to the United States to Wichita, Kansas and seeing a need for more African options (totally true) she started this truck.

She was so kind. I couldn’t decide on whether to get the Ugandan Baked Mac & Cheese or the Pilau-Rice so she let me sample both and offered to do 1/2 and 1/2 which I did. And after I paid and got my containers of food she insisted on giving me a free cup of African iced tea. And you guys know me well enough to know — she didn’t know me from Adam. I don’t tell people who I am. The way I observed her acting with other customers I could tell she just really wants to share her good food with peeps.

Of course I had to get a Beef Somoza. That thing has a ton of beef in it. This was my second time going to this truck and the first time I got a Somoza and loved it. Make sure to get one.

The food was all excellent. I ate every bite. I really encourage you to follow her page and if you’re looking for a place to eat on a Saturday, give this spot a shot. I found her truck at the corner of Pawnee & Greenwich and based off my review of her page this is a common spot you can find her.
