Doug walked into A & J’s Music Room located in SW Wichita,Kansas at 1602 S. Meridian Ave.
He’d had a long day. And it was only 11am. He needed something meaty. Something steaky. His brother-in-law (The Kansas Gastronomist) had been annoying the s*** out of him lately.
Doug ordered the steak. Medium. TKG had taught him that. And he ordered the mashed potatoes and asparagus as his sides. He thought the steak was cooked close to on point. As far as the mashed potatoes — they were definitely real potatoes. None of that instant crap. Doug could see the skins and feel the great imperfections in each bite. But he did think the gravy was a bit bland. As far as the asparagus— it was cooked near perfect and was seasoned well.
“For $11.99 this is a gee golly good meal!” Doug thought to himself.
Doug was glad that he followed Wichita By E.B. and had seen his “25 Can’t Miss Wichita Restaurants South of Kellogg” so that he knew to hit this place up. TKG was too dumb to even know about this place.
