I’m embarrassed it took me so long to check out ADV Forest Hibachi Grill in Andover, Kansas. Voon, the dude you see in the second photo, and his wife started it in early January 2023 after he had been a chef at Sumo (Hibachi place that used to be by the Warren) for 17-years.
I got pretty lucky. There was a nice family that was waiting at the hibachi grill so I was able to tag along, since there is only one hibachi grill. I ordered the Fillet Mignon and Scallops Combination dinner, which came with that ginger salad everyone loves, rice (you gotta get the garlic fried rice). If you were a fan of the garlic fried rice at Sumo, then this is the spot to go to get that fix. I can still taste the garlic as I write this. I also ordered the gyoza as an appetizer.
All of the food was excellent. This spot had been on my radar for some time. A Gastrofan had reached out to me asking me to give them some love as they had been struggling. And then when I ran into a self-described foodie from Andover that had never heard of this place, I decided it was about time for me to finally make it.
ADV Forest Hibachi Grill is located at 420 S. Andover Rd., Unit 101. Just north of Applebee’s — America’s favorite restaurant. Hours are contained in my photos.
