I’m not sure how long ago Seunghi Chang started Ah-So Oriental Restaurant in Wichita, Kansas. But I know it was at least prior to 1989 when I was in my late 40s.
Regardless, this place has been putting out some excellent Asian food for a long time. Ah-So is located at 855 S. Oliver Rd., which is at Oliver & Lincoln.
When I went I ordered the Teriyaki Chicken (without the vegetables). It came with two mandu (Korean dumplings). I also ordered the Salad with Ginger Dressing. I really enjoyed both the entree and the salad. I know the choice of Teriyaki Chicken is basic, but I had seen photos of the dish prior, and the thick teriyaki sauce kind of intrigued me. The salad is particularly well-known and beloved to the patrons of Ah-So.
Shout out to Wichita By E.B. for putting his list together of “must-try” restaurants south of Kellogg which included this spot. Appreciate you doing that man.
