Bright’s Grille opened in 1952 in Fort Scott, Kansas. The sign literally said “Burgers, Shakes & Cigarettes.” The owners kept it going until 2003 when it was sold and rebranded as Aunt Toadies — which was the nickname of the former owner’s mother.
Aunt Toadies in Fort Scott is located right on Hwy. 54 — you can’t miss it. For those that do not know, Fort Scott is approximately 150 miles east of Wichita, Kansas.
When I stopped by, the breakfast menu was my only option, which was just fine. I ordered the Loaded Meat Omelette which came with Bacon, Sausage and Ham. Though I didn’t get photos, I was able to skim the lunch/dinner menu and there were several items that looked good. And in checking their Facebook page it seems like they have some pretty great specials including crab legs and shrimp, steaks, pastas, etc. All homemade.
Definitely want to make it back to Aunt Toadies. What a long history — 72 years! Wow.
