The text came through.

“Hey TKG. Live Local, Lets.Eat.ICT and I are going to Barrel Boys BBQ if you want to join. Well, actually we are already here.”

TKG read the message from Wichita By E.B. and his heart sank. He wouldn’t be able to make it all the way to 2202 W. 13th St. N. in Wichita, Kansas in time to join his compadres in feasting. But he dang sure would try.

TKG put the pedal to the metal in his Ford Pinto. That’s a fancy way of saying that he pressed the gas pedal down as far as he could…hitting speeds in excess of 40MPH.

As TKG burst through the front door of Barrel Boys he could see that his compadres (this narrator does know not why, but TKG enjoys referring to his friends as compadres) had just finished. Nonetheless, they stayed, waited for him to order and enjoy his meal.

RESTAURANT NOTES: I ordered the Brisket which comes sliced. I’m not sure if it’s self-described or not, but Barrel Boys is called by some as “Tendertown,” because the brisket is so tender. That it is, my Gastrofans, that it is. Tender as…well…ya know. Top tier for sure. And it came with two side options. I went with the Cheesy Corn and the Brisket Beans. I was quite surprised by how much I liked the corn. I don’t normally go for a corn side, but I’d heard good things and decided to give it a try.
