In July 2022 Abby Cook opened Black Gold Grill in El Dorado, Kansas. Before it opened it was a restaurant called “Moe’s” and Black Gold kept many of the menu items with some additional items. Interestingly, back in the day this building was an A&W.
This spot makes many homemade items including coleslaw, veal relish, ranch and mashed potatoes. Abby’s hubby does the barbecuing.
During Doug and my visit to Black Gold I ordered up the Driller burger. It comes with a burger patty and a slice of brisket (or bricket, which I assume is a typo, but might not be). I enjoyed the burger! It had some great flavor. The brisket really gave it a unique spin to it. Doug got some sort of veal dish. I’ve learned that this area of the country LOVES the veal.
My intel tells me that one of the must-try burgers is the Blow-Out Burger.
