Brant’s Market – Lucas

In 1922 James and Marie Brant opened up Brant’s Market in Lucas, Kansas. Their sons Frank and George (second generation) later owned and operated the store and then later their grandson Doug (third generation) owned and operated the store along with their great-granddaughter Stephanie (fourth generation) until 2018.

In 2018 Adam and Ashley Comeau acquired the spot that is well known for its Bologna and Sausage.

Recently I asked you Gastrofans for recommendations on places throughout Kansas I could order food items online, and Brant’s was a spot recommended multiple times. I ordered the Ring Bologna and the Beef Sticks.

And let me tell you the Ring Bologna was good. But the Beef Sticks? Incredible. Actually, I take notes when I eat and my notes were as follows: “Oh my g__. The beef sticks are _____ [insert swear word if you must] awesome. Bologna was good. But the beef sticks. Incredible.”

If anyone ever threatens to beat me with a Brant’s Beefstick I will sit there waiting, mouth wide open.
