The Kansas Gastronomist sauntered into Burford Theatre in Arkansas City, Kansas.

He was amazed by the architecture and the fact that the theatre was celebrating 100 years in September. It had opened in 1924 with the very first showing being a silent film called “The Perfect Flapper.” TKG knew little about silent films, so assumed it was about a bird or something.

Fast forward to 2004, TKG learned, the theatre was donated to the Arkansas City Area Arts Council and in September 2016 the theatre was re-opened.

“Geee golly. This is really cool!!!” TKG said out loud to no one in particular. Par for the course. He usually experienced things alone and that was okay. But he looked forward to telling people about it. Someday.
