Norma (on the left) made one of the best dang boils l’ve had in some time. The Half & Half Platter came with crab, shrimp, corn, sausage, egg and potatoes.
Norma told me that the name Cocina 3 Marias , in the City of Liberal, Kansas, comes from her and her two sisters’ names all being “Maria.”
I was so pumped to check this place out. I had not heard about it beforehand, but I happened to be in Liberal and some locals mentioned the spot. They hadn’t been yet as it opened back in December 2023. But I knew I HAD to go. And this place exceeded my expectations.
This is a must try spot. And I don’t know for sure, but suspect, this might be the only spot in SW Kansas to get a boil. And it dang sure is the only spot to get a boil from Norma. It had decent sized crawfish as you can tell from the photos. And the House Recipe Sauce I went with was fantastic. Not too salty – the most common problem with boils, and the potatoes weren’t mushy — the second most common problem.
