In Italian “Fiorito” means “flowery” or “blooming.”

Well, Jordan and Jason Rickard (brothers) are sure as hell not flowery. But the owners of FioRito Ristorante in Wichita,Kansas are dang good chefs and have a heckuva restaurant.

And no, it’s not “gas station” Italian. Some ignorant person recently said they didn’t want “gas station Italian food.” See, FioRito is located on the northwest corner of Hillside and Douglass in front of Dillon’s in what used to be, long ago, a gas station.

Well, if this is “gas station Italian food,” fill er’ up.

I’ve had fifteen different entrees over the last few years and I either liked or LOVED all of them.

This is the sixteenth entree. It has Ricotta Gnudi (that’s the white looking dumpling), Spicy Pork Meatballs, Vodka sauce, aged Parmesan and pistachios. It is the special and it’s only available tonight (was available last night as well). I just inhaled it a bit ago and highly recommend it.

By the way, they do a monthly 5-course dinner with wine pairings. I haven’t made it yet, but thinking about going to the December 17th dinner. The foie gras, wagyu tartar, and A5 wagyu have me very interested. A flyer about the dinner is in the photos.
