“Mr. The Kansas Gastronomist, I’ll take your statement now.” the officer said in a monotone voice.

TKG was at GYOZA BAR – Modern Japanese Eatery in Wichita,Kansas, which is conveniently located at 6428 E. Central Ave. (northeast corner of Woodlawn & Central).

“Yeah…so anyway, I had ordered the Original Pork & Vegetables Pan-Fried Gyoza, the Wagyu Beef & Vegetables Steamed Gyoza and the Breaded and Fried Pork & Vegetable Gyoza.” TKG began. “And then all of a sudden some young, spry man,” TKG shouted, pointing towards a man that appeared to be in his mid to late-90s , “asked me if he could have a bite of my gyoza. Can you imagine?!?!?! The nerve!!!”

“And so, that is when you karate chopped the victim, right?” Officer Monotone asked as he wrote up his report.

“Yeah. And I don’t regret it. I’d do it again if I had to.” TKG said with conviction as a large smile developed on his face. The smile was there because he had done two things — (1) ate amazing Gyoza and (2) taught a young man a lesson he’d never forget.

RESTAURANT NOTES: First, a big thank you to my bartendress. I did not get her name, but she used to work at Yokohama and knows her stuff and was super helpful. Second, for those that do not know, this restaurant is owned by a dude named Jack, whom also owns the next-door restaurant Yokohama Ramen Izakaya. And third, I enjoyed all of the gyoza, but if I were to give a recommendation, I’d suggest the Steamed Wagyu and Vegetable Gyoza. That is the third gyoza photo. Each gyoza was so different/unique, but if you put a squirt g** to my head and made me choose my favorite, that would be it.

Make sure to check this place out. By the way, you could easily order five gyoza for a light lunch and it would be a pretty good deal.
