Doug (The Kansas Gastronomist’s Brother-in-Law) loved pizza. And he occasionally enjoyed stopping by Il Vicino Wood Oven Pizza in Wichita,Kansas. So he decided to stop by the one located in Bradley Fair.
Now, he had ulterior motives. See, Doug’s Wife (TKG’s sister) was steamed at Doug. Doug had been working the late hours at his Golf Ball Diving company…you know where you dive into bodies of water at golf courses and retrieve golf balls? He wasn’t that good at it though. He’d only retrieved two balls in calendar year 2024. And Doug’s wife had laid down the law — “It’s either your balls, or me.”
Doug knew what that meant. He’s not an idiot. Well, actually he is. But even he knew what this meant.
He ordered the 10-inch Salsiccia pizza, which came with pepperoni, house-made sausage, marinara sauce, mozzarella, tomatoes and fresh oregano. That was for him. And he ordered the 10-inch Margherita pizza that came with marinara sauce, mozzarella and fresh basil. That was for her. Her favorite. He got it “to-go.”
Did it work? Well, they are still together. And he is currently out looking for some balls.
