I remember the first time I went to Jerry’s Bar & Grill in Turon, Kansas. The town of Turon is between Pratt and Hutchinson on Hwy. 61. It’s 1 hr 10 min from Wichita.
The owners, Deb and Jerry, were so kind. They didn’t know me from Adam and were just salt of the earth peeps trying to bring good food to the people of the community. And the food was fantastic. The never frozen fresh ground beef burger was fantastic. And the homemade beef chili? I would actually punch somebody if they tried to take a teaspoon from me.
I saw on their Facebook page that they are struggling now. In fact they wrote they have 30 days to right the ship. Like a lot of mom and pop restaurants throughout this beautiful state, they have small margins and the weather over the last few months have been a major damper on business. Maybe other things.
I hope Jerry and Deb’s restaurant survives and the people support. If it does not, it’ll be a damn shame.
