The sound of shrimp smacking Wichita By E.B.’s cheeks stopped. It was over and E.B. looked down in shame.
Silence. Deafening silence. Probably because people were horrified.
E.B. and his friends had enjoyed a wonderful time with Kobe Japanese Steakhouse and its two chefs and two servers during a private soirée at an undisclosed backyard. Events such as these are often referred to as “Backyard Bashes.” During the “Backyard Bash,” The Kansas Gastronomist had ordered the Chicken and Shrimp. It was the full hibachi experience with the soup, salad, vegetables (including shrooms), proteins, fried rice and onion volcanos. This narrator really doesn’t know what the hell Fert The Foodie, Jackstacks.Eats, Live Local or Lets.Eat.ICT ordered. But from the looks of things — they enjoyed it. Especially Fert The Foodie, affectionally known by his friends as “Da Fert” and “Ferty Boy.”
And now, after the conclusion of the hibachi meal at the Backyard Bash, the “Shrimp Face-Hole Catching” commenced. All of the attendees, including the aforementioned foodies, did below average…other than TKG. He did SIGNIFICANTLY above average — he was born for it.
But not E.B. When the shrimp went right, he went left. When the shrimp went up, he went down. To the outside world it almost appeared he was dodging the shrimp from entering his face hole.
“Alright folks. Let’s not let this little embarrassing situation dampen the evening.” TKG said as he stood up. “E.B…clearly Shrimp Face-Hole Catching ain’t for everyone. You’re alright. Now let’s dance. DJ Carbon!!!! Turn up the tunes!!!”
E.B. flashed a quick grin towards TKG. This narrator doesn’t know why, but can only speculate that he was grateful for TKG’s intervention.
RESTAURANT NOTES: Kobe Japanese Steakhouse is located at 8760 W. 21st. N in Wichita, Kansas. In the last year it has started doing private parties in places like businesses and even backyards. In our situation we had two chefs and two servers. And the full hibachi experience. And we also had a “DJ Carbon” (DJ Carbons are sold separately, and worth the purchase). It was really stinkin’ cool. Definitely a unique experience to put on your list.
