I visited Napoli Italian Eatery in Wichita yesterday to try their monthly “Passport to Italy.” I had thought about doing this before and never got around to it. My mistake.
Every month they do a five course dinner with wine pairings (and more wine) from different regions of Italy. This month was food/wine from the Marche region, which is on the east coast of Italy. On the menu this month was 1) a dish with vine ripened tomatoes broiled with garlic, thyme, bread crumbs, olive oil; 2) the Minestra Imperiale (soup) with tri colored cheese pasta dumplings; 3) Crescia al Formaggio (bread); 4) the Vincigrassi, which was a loose lasagna with lamb/liver Bolognese and fresh pacorino; 5) a Roast Amish chicken, with fava beans tossed in garlic-caper; and 6) and a Lemon-Blueberry Semifreddo. All for $60. So damn worth it.
I am gonna say it — this is the most authentic Italian restaurant in Wichita. I LOVE many other Italian restaurants in Wichita, but Napoli is something different.
I also want to give a shout out to the owners and staff. Doug’s mother-in-law (my mom) has glutten alergies and they went above and beyond to accommodate. My understanding is that Napoli is VERY accomodating when it comes to food alergies.
You should check out Napoli if you have not been. I included a photo of their regular menu as well. And if a five course Italian meal with wine pairing is your thing, well…duh.
