One of my favorite Gastrofans, Jerry Payne, sent me this incredible video showing the history of chain restaurants in the world… going all the way back from the 1960s to current day.
I found it fascinating. It really was.
I took this screenshot of “the present.” It’s very interesting. McDonald’s has the most locations worldwide (40K). Burger King in 7th place has less than half (19K). Popeyes in 20th place has around 8% of the locations that McDonald’s has.
Just a bunch of facts and information that I find fascinating.
