A wise person once told me that “you are the main character in your own play.”
It’s interesting. I Googled this term and most search results were about how you need to “make choices that are true to yourself.” Wrong. That’s not the point.
The point is that you’re the star in your play and so is everyone else…in their own production. I have a play and I think the whole universe revolves around me. You have a play and you think the whole universe revolves around you. But it doesn’t. We are all busy with our plays. And we think the audience is hyper focused on us. But they are not. There isn’t an audience.
That’s not a bleak outlook to me. It’s a reminder that no one really cares about my choice of shoes. They’re busy in their own production. So…I should show some interest in their production. Or don’t take offense that they aren’t infatuated with my mine — they are busy. So am I.
