“Nuckin’ Futs.” That’s slang for “completely insane.”
In July of 2023 The Old Town Warren Theatre (sorry, the Regal Warren Old Town Theatre) closed in Old Town Wichita. Later, in January 2024, it was reported that a local movie theatre would be purchasing the same. It’s August 2024 and no reports since that time. It’s still closed.
This is not a political page and this is not about politics. This is about people (our leaders, i.e. City of Wichita- Government) that have good intentions and need/want to figure out a way to have revenue for road maintenance. And perhaps certain ideas (or this one) not being the best. The idea of requiring all public parking to be paid parking in Delano, Old Town and Downtown in approximately 4-months. With little information about costs. (By the way, downtown might make some sense to have more or all paid parking).
Let’s not even get started talking about the businesses in Oldtown that already pay for the right for their customers to park in their parking lots. That’s for another day.
I bring up the Old Town Warren as an anecdotal example of a major tenant no longer being present in Oldtown/Downtown Wichita. Which already meant a hit to the mom and pop restaurants in the area. And perhaps a sign about interest in Oldtown (or maybe peeps just like Netflix).
The reason I post this is because I think this could be very traumatic to the many downtown, Delano and Oldtown restaurants. And perhaps you will be interested enough to continue looking into it.
By the way, I could be wrong. Life is full of difficult decisions. I think it’s nucking futs…but maybe I’m misguided.
