True story.

When I was a kid, sometimes my amazing mother would have to go to a food pantry to help feed the family. And many, many, many other times, so many people in our lives helped us out, giving us big boxes of groceries, etc. I had an amazing mother and an amazing community. I’m so thankful for that.

*For those that truly know me — no need to comment anything personal on this post.

So, when I was asked to be a part of Kansas Food Bank’s ICT Restaurant Week I didn’t say yes. I said an obscenity followed by “YES!” What a beautiful thing.

Starting on Sunday, September 22nd through Saturday, September 28th, when you go to one (or more) of twenty-three different restaurants (and a few stores) in Wichita,Kansas, part of what you spend will go directly to The Kansas Food Bank. Each place is doing something a bit different. For example, some restaurants are selling a specific dish where a significant sum goes to the food bank when you order the same. Other restaurants are doing a % of sales.

I think sometimes people think that people that need a hand or help don’t work hard enough or make bad decisions, etc. Maybe sometimes. And other times maybe a mother worked at a gas station in the middle of night to make extra money to make ends meet, and still didn’t make enough money to feed the family and just needed a little bit of help.

And here’s my commitment to the twenty-three locations participating. I will visit you. I can’t make all twenty-three obviously during this week. But you will be put on a list and I will absolutely go and give you an each a shout-out.

Because this is how we do. This is humanity.
