I want to tell you a story I’ve never really told.

In 2017, if you asked me what I thought of pit-bulls, I’d said anything from “I don’t care” to “no way in hell I’d get a pit-bull.”

But in 2018, I was genuinely tricked into adopting her from Kansas Humane Society. Seriously. I’m not going into details. But I did not know she was a pit-bull mix (all of them are mixed). And I wasn’t even excited about getting a puppy. I travel a lot as you all know and it is difficult traveling as much as I do and having pets.

So, she gets adopted and the first few days she is merely a resident of The Kansas Gastronomist’s household. But then I’m sitting and watching TV and Ms. Hope jumps on the couch and jumps into my lap and it was over at that point. She’d won. My heart genuinely changed at that moment.

The first photo was taken by her foster family. They loved, and did so much, for Hope. I genuinely appreciate them. I provided a few other photos of Ms. Hope with her brother Mr. Remus as well as one of her three kitten friends (Ms. Odette).

Honestly, my life was changed because of Hope. She’s my hope. And my point — don’t be afraid to look at the doggos (and kitties!!) at your local shelter or rescue or humane society.
