I have been to Red Bird in Wichita,Kansas (6440 E. Cental Ave.) five times previously and blogged about the spot four times. Just talking about the sandwiches I have tried — I have tried and reviewed the 1) Cardinal Sandwich; 2) Cuban Trogan; 3) The Wren (blogged about it twice); 4) The Raven; 5) The Chickadee; 6) The Pelican; and 7) Beaded Reedling (a special).
This is a review of the Northern Shoveler, which has pork roast, spicy pickled peppers, provolone cheese and au jus and the Bob White with hot smoked turkey, jalapeño ranch, onion aioli, bacon, cheddar cheese and provolone cheese.
I didn’t think the Bob White was anything special. Just an ordinary sandwich. But I LOVED the Northern Shoveler. The au jus sauce had a wonderful flavor and it just really worked. I absolutely loved it.
I guess I have had 9 sandwiches now at Red Bird (in addition to all of the sides and soups of the day, etc.).
