“Do you wanna…Rock?” Wichita By E.B. screamed at me with his typical stoic face in check…other than the right corner of his lip that tremored as he held it back from smiling. He pushed the brim of his sunglasses up like a nerd and took a sharp right turn.
“Gosh darn it E.B.! I’m not trying to die. And what’s that about Rock?!?!” Lets.Eat.ICT screamed out matter-of-factly.
I just sat there the whole time and nary a word escaped me. As is typical.
I was relieved once we made it to Route 77 Rock Cafe in Rock, Kansas. Before me sat the Fish & Chips and the Grilled Chicken Bacon Wrap. The fish in the “Fish and Chips” had very little in the way of spices, but was still a decent fried fish and it came with great fries. The Grilled Chicken Bacon Wrap was not something that “wowed” me — it was just your typical wrap, which is to be expected.
I’ve heard that the burgers are handmade Angus burgers and that the hashbrowns are homemade and made from potatoes (obviously), so I definitely want to return and check those out. If anyone has tried either I’d be curious your thoughts.
Rock is 13 miles north of Winfield on historic Route 77.
