So I was passing through Hutchinson, Kansas and needed a quick coffee and bite to eat. I had read about a coffee shop called Scuttlebutts Coffee and decided to give it a shot. I knew nothing about the place and was really surprised by the displays of various artwork. Check out the photos.
I saw that the sign said “Scuttlebutts at the Clayworks.” Naturally, I’m like “What the he** is ‘the Clayworks’”?
Well turns out The Clayworks at Disability Supports is a non-profit in Hutchinson and McPherson that works with the intellectually disabled/impaired to help them create and then my understanding is that what they create is sold at these locations — including in this building that Scuttlebutts has a coffee spot.
Bravo. Way cool.
When I went I just got a simple Bacon, Egg and Cheese Biscuit. The bacon was crisp like I like, but generally the sandwich was just kind of an ancillary item to the mission and the coffee (which was good).
I’ll definitely swing by again sometime. Both to check out some other items and maybe do a little shopping.
