Let’s just get this out of the way.
The description of the Chicken Penne on the menu at Sheet’s Creek in Eastern Wichita,Kansas (at The Waterfront,) does not do it justice. It just does not.
“Topped with 6 oz grilled chicken, artichoke hearts, parmesan, spinach, tomato, basil cream sauce,” sounds great. But it sounds basic. Other than the “basil cream sauce.”
And that right there (in addition to the perfect chicken) is what makes this dish. It’s why I showed my empty plate as the first photo. I always take a photo of my plate if I finish it to show you I thought it was worth it.
This is some of the best penne I’ve had. The sauce has an almost pesto taste to it. I looked up what “basil cream sauce” has in it, and this is the general consensus: basil leaves, garlic, olive oil, Parmesan cheese, pine nuts, salt and pepper, and light cream.
Regardless, I’d order it every time I went.
