Some of you Gastrofans…that actually pay attention…may have seen that The Smoking Crab & Seafood Co On The Go is on tour and currently in Wichita, Kansas from today (April 4th) through April 7th. It is/will be parked at 2425 S. Oliver St. Want to know more info? Click the page I linked to above.
I got the “Smoking Crab Jr. Sampler” which included 1 snow crab, 6 shrimp, 1 sausage, 1 corn, 1 egg and potatoes. For $23.99 + tax and tip.
And for free it included a 50-minute wait.
So what were my thoughts? I took a look at messages to some friends immediately after I ate and here is what I said:
“I feel like it was incredibly salty. The crab itself was really good to me. I got a boil so shrimp, potatoes, sausage, corn and crab. Crab was great. Shrimp were fine. Sausage was okay. Not worth an hour plus.”
And in response to a friend asking if it was worth it, I wrote: “I don’t think so.”
So there you have it. That’s my take. Right, wrong or indifferent.
I WANT TO BE CLEAR: It was not horrible. It was just fine. But honestly the chain boil places in Wichita are just as good if not better. The saltiness of the boil was insane. I didn’t finish it. Some would say that’s because I don’t know how to eat. Probably.
