I’d been meaning to check out the brunch buffet at The Sweet Spot in western Wichita for several years or longer. I finally made it and with the help of Significantly Spicy we conquered it.
We do the work so you don’t have to.
The brunch buffet basically has two parts to it — the breakfast portion and the lunch portion. I’ll start off with what I didn’t like and then work to what I did like. I liked a lot more than I didn’t.
I wasn’t a huge fan of the breakfast items. There was French toast, pancakes, scrambled eggs, fried potatoes, sausage, bacon and biscuits and gravy (commonly referred to by old people as B&G). Now when I say “not a huge fan,” I just mean it was basic. Nothing wrong with the breakfast items. Just not anything amazing.
With that being said the “lunch” side of the buffet I REALLY loved. A lot. Honestly I liked every dish. If you take a look at my plate you can see I basically sampled everything (other than the pancakes and French toast). As far as the buffet, for me the “star” of the show was the Birria Stew. I could have had that as a meal.
However the best item for me was the Prime Rib (from the Prime Rib station…check out the photo). This was some of the best I’ve had at a brunch buffet in Wichita. Period. Think of the other places and in your mind say “Better than “x” place TKG?” Answer is yes.
Finally, S.S. (that’s short for Significantly Spicy, but just quicker to write) and your The Kansas Gastronomist ordered up raw oysters that were $2 each. They were pretty good for the price.
