I don’t get to Tiger Rice Japanese Kitchen enough and I don’t know why. I always really enjoy it. Not only is the food fantastic, but the co-owner, Andy, is always such a nice guy to talk with. And helpful too.

By the way, Andy cut his teeth working at Sumo and Mr. Miyagi’s before his Tiger Rice days.

This trip I ordered the Beef Yaki Udon and added glazed pork belly. I always like to “Make it Spicy,” but honestly the heat is something most could handle. For my side I got the eggrolls. I really enjoyed the Beef Yaki Udon and I LOVED the pork belly. It was cooked perfectly. And I had forgotten how much I love his crack sauce. It’s got a kick to it, but that’s not what makes it so tasty. Just try it.

I had Twerp (Doug’s son) with me. He ordered the Tiger Nachos and Crab Rangoons. The Tiger Nachos are wonton chips, cheese blend, soy sauce, yum yum sauce and cilantro and jalapenos. Twerp really enjoyed the nachos. I tried one chip and liked it. It’s quite unique.

For those that have not had Tiger Rice before — think of a hibachi grill spot like Kobe, Umi or ADV (in Andover), but here you order at the counter and often times it’s done pretty quick. But it’s all made to order. And the portions are huge, as my entree is easily is 2-3 meals.

I definitely recommend you check out Tiger Rice sometime if you have not. It is located at 1735 W. 21st St. N, Suite 100 in Wichita,Kansas — near 21st & Amidon.
