“Doug’s wife (TKG’s sister). Hide!!!” Doug shrieked as he pulled Doug’s wife down with him behind a dumpster at Wichita Taco Fest taking place at the Capital Federal Amphitheatre in Andover, Kansas.
Doug had just spotted our hero, The Kansas Gastronomist, strolling around the food truck area with Wichita By E.B.
“And after I threw the uppercut, the bad guy ran away like a little baby and the damsel in distress fell in love with me!” Doug overheard TKG tell E.B. as they walked by. Doug was not sure, but it looked like E.B. rolled his eyes.
Doug and Doug’s wife were at Taco Fest because they enjoyed tacos, enjoyed tequila and enjoyed Lucha Libre Wrestling — they’d both fallen in love with that specific form of wrestling when they were on the traveling Lucha Libre circuit in the 1930s in Alaska. Though they enjoyed all things Taco Fest, the last thing in the world they wanted was for TKG to know that he’d influenced them to check out Taco Fest.
“So, here is where TKG went.” Doug’s wife said as she pulled out a list. “He got an Asada Taco from El Ricardo’s Mexican, a pastor taco from Taqueria El Fogon, a Korean Chicken taco from Jumbo’s Beef & Brew, and a Chicharron Taco. I think I heard him say that the taco from El Fogon was his favorite ‘standard taco’ and that his favorite unique taco was from Jumbo’s.”
“Don’t forget Doug’s wife. I also saw him over enjoying some tequila from that Bryce dude at Una Vida Tequila.” Doug said matter of factly.
TACO FEST NOTES: Festive ICT did a bang up job this year at Taco Fest as they always do. It’s always a good time. If you have not been, you really need to make it a point to go next year. It is hot. But it’s an awesome time with good vibes. Appreciate, as always, Festive ICT and Wichita Taco Fest having me out.
