“A person who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities.”
That’s the definition of “hero.”
When DJ Carbon told me he was going to be turning tables at Wichita’s Littlest Heroes’ 5K and Family 1K today at Sedgwick County Park in Wichita, I decided to check out.
For those that do not know what Wichita’s Littlest Heroes is — they support medically fragile children (and their families) who are battling life threatening medical conditions through fun events, financial assistance, art therapy, online support and more.
It was so cool seeing all the heroes coming together to support such a worthy cause. I even ran into (see second photo) a group of heroes dressed up as Star Wars characters. Turned out that they were part of the Great Plains Galactic Alliance and every year attend this event to bring smiles to kids. They even go to the children’s hospitals every quarter to brighten a child’s day.
So, thank you and shout out to those of you that spend your time, money, energy, expertise and other resources to help kids and their families in probably the worst moments of their lives. YOU are heroes to many, including me.
