“Eat up everyone. Before he gets here.” Doug (TKG’s brother-in-law) said to those gathered in the back room of YaYa’s Eurobistro in Wichita,Kansas. “Doug’s wife, I saw some of those meatballs that you love.” Doug went on.
Doug was trying to make a joke. But per the usual nobody got it. That’s why most people thought he was an idiot.
Everyone was there. Doug, Doug’s wife (TKG’s sister), Doug’s mother-in-law (TKG’s mom), Twerp (Doug’s son/TKG’s nephew), Gertie (TKG’s kind-of girlfriend), Sensai Frank Inzentz (TKG’s karate sensai) and Kevin (TKG’s best friend and former Hollywood agent).
Everyone that is, except The Kansas Gastronomist. He’d been told the party started at 6pm. It was 5:30pm.
“So, as I outlined in the facsimile sent to each of you, our number one goal from here on out is to make sure TKG has no idea what our plans are. The first step of the plan is we stop his growth. The second part? We destroy him.” Doug said with look of joy on his face.
Everyone else was all smiles — most of all Doug’s mother-in-law.
Meanwhile, our hero, TKG, was on his way to Yaya’s in his Ford Pinto. As he turned the corner his phone fell onto the floormat. “Go-go Gastro-Arm!” TKG exclaimed as his arm extended out to swipe the phone up — quite similar to how Inspector Gadget had taught him years earlier when in Hollywood.
